Jikoku for macOS

Privacy Policy
& Terms of Use

Privacy Policy

Jikoku is designed around a local-first architecture. The Mac application does not require a Jikoku account and does not send your calendars, reminders, contacts, notes, meeting audio, transcripts or AI prompts to a Jikoku content server.

Data used by the Mac application

Calendar and Reminders are accessed through Apple EventKit after the relevant macOS permission is granted. Contacts are accessed through the system Contacts permission. These sources remain under the control of macOS and the accounts you have configured.

Calendar, Reminders and Contacts may synchronize through your iCloud account when you have enabled that synchronization with Apple. Jikoku notes are different: they are created and stored locally inside Jikoku's Application Support data on the Mac, do not synchronize through iCloud and can be exported to a destination you choose.

Connected calendar providers such as Microsoft Exchange or CalDAV receive the information required to provide their own service. Jikoku connects to those providers directly. Credentials for a connected work service are stored in the Mac Keychain; a Jikoku server does not sit between your Mac and the provider.

Local speech and AI processing

On-device speech recognition and meeting transcription use WhisperKit. Local AI features use Gemma 4 12B running through Apple MLX. The model resources are bundled with Jikoku. Audio, transcripts, notes and prompts are processed on your Mac rather than being sent to a Jikoku AI endpoint, a remote AI provider or Apple Intelligence.

Permissions

macOS may ask for access to Calendar, Reminders, Contacts and the microphone when you use the related features. Screen Recording permission is requested only when capturing system audio from an online meeting. You can review or revoke these permissions in System Settings. Refusing a permission limits the related feature and does not create another route around macOS.

The website and language selection

jikoku.app does not use analytics scripts, advertising cookies or user-action tracking. The website cannot access data inside the Jikoku application.

A language chosen through the site menu or specified in the URL takes priority and is stored for one year in the jikoku-locale cookie. The cookie contains only the language code. Without a saved choice, Russian is selected only when the hosting infrastructure supplies Belarus, Kazakhstan or Russia as a coarse country code; every other visitor receives English. The site does not request precise location, store the country or use the signal for analytics or advertising.

Launch email and Resend

If you submit your email address on jikoku.app, Jikoku will use it to send one email when the application launches. This is not an early-access application, a trial or a recurring newsletter.

The submission may also include the site language, date, source page and coarse technical context supplied by the delivery infrastructure, such as country, city and device platform. It never includes data from the Jikoku application. The address is stored in a private Cloudflare D1 database and added to a Resend Audience. Resend acts as the email storage and delivery provider.

Jikoku does not sell the address or share it for advertising. You can request deletion at any time by emailing support@jikoku.app. The address will be removed from the launch-email database and Resend Audience.

Children, changes and contact

Jikoku is a general-purpose productivity product and is not directed to children under 13. This policy may be updated when the application, distribution method, permissions or integrations change. The revision date at the top shows when this document was last updated.

Privacy questions and deletion requests can be sent to support@jikoku.app.

Terms of Use

Using Jikoku

These terms govern your use of the Jikoku macOS application and jikoku.app. By installing or using Jikoku, you agree to use it lawfully and only through an official Jikoku distribution channel.

License and ownership

Jikoku grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to use the application on compatible Apple-branded hardware, subject to the distribution and purchase terms presented when Jikoku becomes available. Jikoku and its original design, code, text and branding remain the property of Jikoku and its licensors.

Third-party components and services

Jikoku uses Apple frameworks and includes third-party components and model resources, including WhisperKit, Apple MLX and Gemma 4 12B. Those components remain subject to their respective licenses and terms. Calendar, Reminders, Contacts, iCloud, Exchange, CalDAV and other services remain governed by the providers you choose to use.

Your data and backups

You remain responsible for the accounts, calendars, reminders, contacts and exported files you use with Jikoku. Keep appropriate backups and verify important information before relying on automatically generated transcripts, summaries, dates or task suggestions.

No warranty

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Jikoku is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of uninterrupted operation, error-free output, fitness for a particular purpose or permanent compatibility with third-party services. Local AI and speech output may be incomplete or inaccurate and should be reviewed by you.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Jikoku and its contributors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, opportunities or business interruption arising from use of the application or website.

Apple relationship

Apple, macOS, Mac, iCloud, Calendar and Reminders are trademarks of Apple Inc. Jikoku is an independent product and is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Apple Inc.

Changes and contact

These terms may change as distribution, purchasing and product capabilities develop. Material updates will be reflected on this page with a revised date. Questions can be sent to support@jikoku.app.
